up-front, i'm a hard-core incubus fan & it pains me to post this. the megalomaniac video is totally unfair i.e. comparing bush to hitler...are you kidding me incubus? hitler murdered thousands of jews, not george bush! wake up! if you guys want to make any comparisons, you should be comparing hitler to saddam hussein. hussein has murdered thousands of his own people, not bush. "devil's advocate"...let's assume bush went to war "just for the oil" (worst case scenario), i ask you, are the iraqi people better off w/o hussein? think about that one. futhermore, the u.s. has gone out of its way to minimize civilian casualties. i mean the u.s. could easily annihilate millions of iraqi civilians, instead of risking the lives of u.s. troops. question...incubus, "how many shows have you guys played in iraq?" answer..."zero." it may be ten years down the road, but at least you guys have the possibility of spreading your music & love to the millions of sonic thirsty iraqis. if saddam was still in power, that would never happen! i'm sorry readers for expatiating. bottom line...incubus, i think you guys are being completely unfair with this video. i still love you & will be adding the new cd to my collection. just wanted you guys to see the other side, if only for a fleeting moment...always a fan!!!

spliffy....you need to recognize what they are trying to portray....george bush is similar to hitler because they are both tyrants of their time. like hitler...george bush is trying to rule the world at the expense of innocent people and $$$$$. there are thousands of countries that have been doing the same crap for years...there noothing the us can do about it.....we have no right to rule the world.

I don't think that the song was written about Bush, but about a bassplayer that they knew. The video just takes the concept of the song and applies it to a subject that audiences will understand on a commercial level, a very ambiguous message. I don't think it is Bush that is being compared, but the Bassplayer to Bush and Hitler. Just my humble two cents.

Hey megalomaniac You're no Jesus Yeah, you're no f**king Elvis
Please elaborate, DriveThrough. Those lyrics imply that it's referring to someone on some musically self-centric ego trip, not the president of the United States. How can Bush be compared to Elvis? I respect your opinion even though you fail to elaborate on it. PPOR bud, ppor.

I agree with nattydreadstock up there about the whole thing. The video is controversial which makes it interesting and and a way to make everyone think a little more.

"...what they are trying to portray....george bush is similar to hitler because they are both tyrants of their time. like hitler...george bush is trying to rule the world at the expense of innocent people and $$$$$."
And where is the proof of this?

I've heard the song and heard all of the rumors on what it is about but is there any official word like from the band because if you listen hard to pretty much any song you can see comparisons to pretty much anything....therefore I do see comparisons to Bush and to a musician but it could be anything or maybe this is exactly what the song was supposed to do....cause everyone to wonder and speculate and be controversial.

I'd have to go along with TIE.
Take the song and listen to the lyrics themselves. You can easily say they're probably about someone in their lives that thinks of himself as self important. The reference to Elvis is defiantly a clue this person was a musician. There is nothing to indicate that this person was Hitler, Bush or anyone else. It's the video that suggests that they're singing about Bush and Hitler. Just another cheap trick to sell CD's... If they'd made the video like they did years ago, with just the band playing, what would you say the song was about.
Haven't you guys ever met a megalomaniac before?? I sure have.

take ur humble two cents and shove them up ur ass... that was a little assholish of you to say. they're just stating their opinions, just like you are. i personally don't think it's about bush at all. sure, they made a few references towards bush, but that doesn't mean they're all for saying bush is a power-hungry bastard. the video is pretty much saying that history repeats itself. i dunno about the alex thing, though. i think leech is about him, not megalomaniac. especially with the lyrics "your fictional, plastic alibi." it reminds me of alex's 'porn name,' dirk lance.

All of you will be interested in the Incubus interview on Launch.com
Brandon talks about the video and says that its hard for him not to have an opinion about whatever's going on around him, and that the video is not exactly a political message but is definitely more opinionated than their previous work.
He goes on to say that the song/video is about how some people consider themselves infallible, which I'm afraid has been the case with George W. Bush lately.
That said, no democrat is going to beat him this year. He'll get four more years and I hope those four are better than the last four.

i like the new incubus music video. it explains alot about war and what has happened, and what we are doing and all that jazz. i don't think it's meant to be comparing bush to hitler. some other people may see it as something else. i see it as a music video speaking out to us telling us and showing us what has happened because of war. but everyone has different opinions about that video. and everyones is right in there own way.

I dont watch music videos anymore because I think they make people judge songs based on visuals instead of the song itself...but i have seen a small bit of it and ive read this all and here is my imput:
Who cares? People are way too uptight about political things. I mean seriously, who cares? It's just a video. Blink 182 put naked guys and naked midgets in their videos. Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) has a video of a guy tied up suspended in the air with nuts being pumped into his mouth. Christina Aguilera can spend a whole video being a very *friendly* person and getting "dirty" and everyone loves it. Incubus puts political figures in a video and it pisses a bunch of people off. Ya know, just because they are celebrities, doesn't mean they dont have political opinions. So shut up, ignore the video, and enjoy the music.
